Maesglas Uchaf
Maesglas Uchaf

Maesglas Uchaf (Welsh translation: highest green field), is a modern chalet bungalow, on the edge of the village of Ysbyty Ystwyth. The location and elevation ensure outstanding scenic views in every direction. The village of Ysbyty Ystwyth is situated about 15 miles inland from Aberystwyth; Devil’s Bridge is 5 miles to the north and Tregaron 8 miles south.

We are surrounded by beautiful countryside, including open mountain tops, woodland and forested areas, meandering streams, rivers and reservoirs. There is visual evidence of prehistoric and Roman occupation also of the lead mining which helped to shape the history of mid Wales. Many of our visitors come to tour and explore the area by car. Others are cyclists or walkers and we are happy to help with transport for evening meals or onward travel. We have secure undercover storage for cycles and can help with clothes drying.

Accommodation

Our guest bedrooms, both on the first floor, are spacious and comfortably furnished. They provide views of the Ystwyth valley and open countryside, are centrally heated and double glazed. Each has a comfortable seating area with television and a hospitality tray providing: a selection of tea’s, hot chocolate, filter coffee and biscuits.

The Red Room: Double/family room with double bed and two single beds, en-suite shower room.

The Green Room: Double/family room with double bed and two single beds, separate (right next door to the room) private bathroom with Jacuzzi bath and shower, for your exclusive use.

We provide soft towels, bath/shower gel and hand soap.

Eating and Drinking

Breakfast consists of your choice from cereal, fruit juice, yoghurt, fresh fruit, full Welsh cooked, toast and preserves, tea and coffee. Continental or vegetarian options also available. Other dietary requirements catered for with prior notification. All at a time to suit you.

There are numerous establishments close by where evening meals can be obtained. We would be happy to make recommendations based on our knowledge. Aberystwyth, half an hour’s drive away, provides a more cosmopolitan choice.

Local Attractions

Within a short distance there are numerous attractions to appeal to all tastes and ages. Also, experienced local hill walker, Daffyd Wyn Morgan from Tregaron, leads guided walks in eight Ceredigion communities, used as locations for filming the S4C/Fiction Factory series Y Gwyll/Hinterland which was set in the local area.
